The reason is that an appropriate amount of white corundum can properly increase the density of the castable. White fused aluminium oxide can also form mullite with silica fume at high temperature, thereby improving the high temperature strength of the castable. Used as refractory filler for alcohol and water based coating particularly for the use on any kinds of steel, like carbon steel, stainless steel, low alloyed steel and manganese steel; used in sand castings as special sand, designed for the use at high temperature alloys, steel and iron castings.
