How to reduce its wear?
As abrasive, brown corundum abrasive has many excellent embroidery properties, such as hardness, toughness, fire resistance, etc. However, it has another property - flexural strength, which is rarely mentioned. Many people may confuse flexural strength with compressive strength, but these are really two different concepts.
The bending strength of brown corundum abrasive refers to the ability to resist deformation and fracture under the action of external forces. It is an important indicator to measure the bearing capacity of corundum, sometimes also known as the bending strength. For it, its influence factors are mainly reflected in the abrasive tools, such as the number and size of pores, the uniformity of the structure, and the bonding strength between particles.
For brown corundum abrasive, the main influencing factor is additive. Some people have done experiments, and the additives magnesium oxide and titanium oxide have a great impact on the bending strength of corundum abrasive, mainly reflected in: when the total content of magnesium oxide and titanium oxide is 4%, the bending strength of corundum abrasive is drunk, but if it is higher or lower than this value, its bending strength will decline to varying degrees.
Through analysis, the reason why magnesium oxide and titanium oxide can affect the bending strength of brown corundum abrasive is that magnesium oxide can react with alumina in corundum to produce magnesia-alumina spinel, which can inhibit the movement rate of grain boundaries and the growth rate of alumina grains, thus increasing the bending strength of corundum. However, titanium oxide is reduced from 4 valence state to 3 valence state at high temperature, which is beneficial to the development of crystal lattice, thus leading to a strong bending strength of corundum. In addition, sintering temperature has a great influence on the apparent strength of corundum. The experiment shows that the bending strength of corundum at 1500 is much greater than that at other temperatures.
As is known to all, brown corundum abrasive has the advantages of good grindability, easy adhesion with the binder, moderate hardness, large ratio and good toughness, and is a widely used basic abrasive. But in use, in order to avoid wear, we should master some methods to reduce wear.
1. Sand material treated by sand blasting
Sand for sand blasting is very important, not more is better, but the proportion is appropriate. Generally speaking, the amount of sand should be between 50% and 90% of the storage device.
2. Blasting distance
When sandblasting, a little closer to the processing surface of your parts will not bring better results, and brown corundum sand will be wasted. This is because the working distance reduces the size of the sandblasting operation area, increases the cycle time, and can more easily crush the sand, thus reducing its service life. This idea is between the two, so that your abrasive wear rate and rate can reach a good balance. When using the pressure of the direct injection system, you should stay away from 10 to 14 inches. At the same time, remember that the closer you are to the sheet, the easier it is to deform, no matter what sandblasting sand you use. In addition to finding the proper distance, it is also necessary to avoid the deformation of the sandblasting part.
3. Angle of sandblasting
Many people think that working on the working surface with a sandblasting gun at 90 degrees will optimize the process of rust removal or decontamination of the workpiece surface. However, this will actually slow down the sand blasting process and make the medium (sand) wear faster. The sandblasting gun should aim at the surface of the position you want to handle at an angle of 30-45 degrees, so that the abrasive wear is less and the effect is better. Especially when you want to find an effect that suits you, find the balance point you need through multi-angle work test, make records, and then create a better spraying surface according to this standard.
In order to reduce the wear of brown corundum abrasive during sand blasting, attention should be paid to the angle, distance and sand material during processing. It shall be handled in strict accordance with the operation specifications and in combination with the actual situation.
