Garnet Abrasive
Our Garnet abrasive is a mineral abrasive produced from naturally occurring almandite garnet, hardness is 7-7.5Mohs, specific gravity is 3.0-4.9g/cm³, melting point is 1320℃, high hardness and good toughness, good used in abrasive blasting and waterjet cutting.
To meet different need of customers, on the basis of independent production and processing of pomegranate sand, at the meantime, we also import garnet source from abroad that called sea garnet with pink color, sands are very clean, special good in waterjet cutting.
Garnet sandblasting advantages:
Garnet abrasive no matter for cutting thick, heavy metals and stone, or thin, delicate materials, such as composites, ceramics, glass, waterjet abrasives grade could performs with fast speed, adge quality and surface finish you need for cutting.
The garnet abrasive itself is purple-red or brown-red, and if green, off-white, or black substances are found, it is an impurity. The amount of impurities means the purity of this kind of sand abrasive. At present, the most common impurities in domestic garnet abrasives are omphacite, chlorite, feldspar (gray white), mica flakes (black) and ilmenite (black).
For the domestic garnet sand abrasive, take a transparent glass, take 30 grams of this sand abrasive sample, add 80 ml of water, which is roughly the sampling volume: the ratio of water addition = 1:4, after stirring, see if the water is cloudy. If it is slightly whitish, it means that the abrasive of the sand has low mud content, and there is a washing process; if the water solution is found to be gray, it means that the mud content is slightly high, and the washing process is not very thorough; if the water solution is yellowish or very turbid, it means poor or no wash at all.
Comparison of blasting surface effect (sandblasting process effect):
If there are too many impurities, there will be different color spots or spots on the sprayed surface, and the surface will not be smooth; The roughness of the sprayed surface will be uneven. If anti-corrosion coating is required in the later stage, the adhesion of the coating will be uneven, which will easily cause the coating to fall off and accelerate the corrosion and oxidation of the product.
The content of garnet sand is too low, resulting in insufficient impact strength, the rust spots on the steel plate cannot be cleaned, and the surface roughness of the steel plate after spray grinding cannot meet the requirements. The garnet sand content is too low, the mud content is high, and there are a lot of other impurities mixed in. After the steel plate is sprayed and ground, the powder and mud of the impurities will adhere to the surface of the steel plate with the impact, leaving spots of different sizes on the surface of the steel plate. Stains, poor cleanliness of blasting.
Waterjet sand cutting surface (water cutting process effect):
If there are too many impurities and the hardness of the material medium fluctuates, it is easy to make the cutting surface rough, especially for brittle materials such as glass, the damage to the cutting surface is more obvious, the glass cutting surface will have burst edges, or even broken, and the broken powder of some impurities will be as the impact of the cut is fused to the glass surface, it is very difficult to remove.
